The area experienced the first full week of the diamond season with decent weather in 2019. The teams did not have any cancellations or reschedules for the first time in 2019.

Baseball

The St. Stanislaus Rock-a-chaws improved to 12-4 overall and 3-1 in Division 8-4A with a sweep of the Vancleave Bulldogs on Friday evening.

The Rocks topped the defending Class 4A state champion Bulldogs 6-3 to complete the season series sweep.

Payton Sandrock got the win on the mound allowing one hit and two runs while fanning three batters. Brad Dossett got the save.

Braxton Bean had two hits including a double and two RBIs to pace SSC. Taylor Lafontaine and Tristan Bush each had two hits, also. Trace Rhodes and Colin Fredickson both added a hit for the Rocks.

On Saturday, SSC defeated Enterprise 7-4. Lafontaine had two hits while Dawson Strong had a double. Rhodes, Bush and Sandrock all had hits.

The Bay High Tigers (3-8, 0-4) dropped their game with East Central on Friday 6-1. On Saturday, Bay High fell to 9-0.

Game details were not available.

The Hancock Hawks stumbled Friday in their game against Pascagoula 10-9.

The Hawks were up 2-0 until the fifth inning when the Panthers exploded for six runs to change the score to 6-2.

The Hawks returned the favor in the sixth scoring seven runs to move the advantage to Hancock 9-6. In the final two frames, Pascagoula added four runs to account for the difference and decision.

Colby Oliver led the Hawk attack with four hits and an RBI followed by Jackson Garrett with two hits and three RBIs. Tanner Lemon also tallied two hits and collected two RBIs. Blaine Knight, Brenham DeWitt, Colton Cuevas and Nate Hida all tallied a hit.

On Saturday Hancock traveled to Vancleave and dropped two games 10-0 and 13-3.

In the first game, Lemon, Cuevas, Garrett and Davis Shannon all had a hit.

In game two, Caiden Necaise, Cuevas and Garrett all had a hit.

The Pass Christian Pirates did not play over the weekend.

In upcoming action, Bay High travels to Moss Point on Friday and Lumberton on Saturday. Hancock hosts Harrison Central on Friday and travels to Pass Christian on Saturday. The Pirates host SSC on Friday and Hancock on Saturday. SSC travels to Pass Christian on Friday and to d'Iberville for two games on Saturday. See you at the games!

Softball

Bay High was the only squad in action over the weekend. The Lady Tigers (6-7, 1-1) defeated Picayune 4-3 but game details were not available.

Pass Christian (0-9, 0-2) and Hancock (0-7, 0-1) did not play over the weekend.

The Crescents remain winless on the season.

In upcoming action, Bay High hosts Moss Point on Thursday and West Harrison on Saturday. Hancock hosts Harrison Central on Thursday and Pascagoula on Friday. The Lady Pirates travel to Vancleave on Thursday and hosts PRC on Saturday. See you at the games!
