Thursday night was a big evening for track and field with the annual Bearcat Classic being held in Long Beach and the 24th annual Rock Relays at the Brother Philip Memorial Athletic Complex.
The Pass Christian Lady Pirates took home the runner-up trophy at the Long Beach meet after scoring 115.5 points to champion Long Beach's total of 207.
The Lady Pirates racked up several top three finishes to help propel the team to the trophy presentation.
Kamdyn Skinner won the high jump (5'2") and triple jump (32'1") and placed third in the 300m hurdles (51.35). Haley Clark won the 3200m (13:16.01) while Mina Tran took second in the pole vault (8').
Madelyn Greene was second in the triple jump (32') and Cayla Obillo was third in the 400m (1:06.25).
Kealey Skinner placed second in the 800m run (2:39.21).
The 4x200m relay team was third (1:53.00) and the 4x800m relay team took second (11:13.88).
In the boys division, the Pirates placed third with 126 points behind champion Gautier with 135 and runner-up George County with 134.
The Pirates' top three finishers were led by Damonta May who won the triple jump (42' 4 1/2") and placed third in both the 100m (11.57) and 200m (23.50).
Mike Seignious won the 3200m (11:06.22) and placed second in the 1600m (5:01.55).
Xavian Page was second in the 110m hurdles (17.15) and Will McGuire was second in the pole vault (11').
Sean Necaise took second in the 800m (2:16.65) while Andrew Moffett was third in the triple jump (41').
The 4x200m relay placed second (1:33.50).
St. Stanislaus held the 24th annual Rock Relays which is a meet that is made up of field events and relays only. The addition of a sprint medley relay and distance medley relay event adds to the other four relays. The only individual running event in the meet was the 3200m run.
The meet had both varsity and junior high teams and featured boys and girls divisions.
The Rocks took second in the meet at the varsity level with 51 points behind team champion East Central with 61 points.
SSC was led by top three finishers including William Weber who won the pole vault (13'6") while Brandon Bordelon won the triple jump (41' 6"). Devin Gaspard claimed the top spot in shot put with a distance of 40' 7 1/2".
Taylor Necaise took second in the pole vault (12') while Will Hand was third in high jump (5'6").
Hogan Benvenutti was third in shot put (39' 3").
The 4x100m relay team was second (45.05) and the 4x200m relay finished second (1:33.59). The 4x400m relay team won the event (3:42.01) and the 4x800m relay team finished third (9:34.73).
The 800m sprint medley relay team placed third (1:49.75) and the 4000m distance medley relay was fourth (13:11.88).
The Rocks won the junior high boys division with 48 points over St. Patrick with 31 points.
Grant May was a double-winner in the high jump (4'8") and long jump (17'6"). Ladd Scriber took third in long jump (14'9").
Jaden Talbot won the pole vault (8'6") and Reese Cooper was third (7').
William Buice won the shot put (26' 10 1/2") and took third in discus (55'3").
Hunter Holland was second in both shot put (23'8") and discus (64'1").
The 4x100m relay team won the event (52.81) while the 4x400m relay team also won (4:24.56).
The 4x200m relay team was second (1:59.44) and so was the 4x800m relay team (11:28.94).
In the girls varsity division, OLA won the team title with 64.5 points over St. Patrick with 58 points.
Grace Bradford won the pole vault (8') while Claire Whitney claimed the shot put (26'9"). Margerite Gelpi won the discus (89'6") and Katie Logan was third in high jump (4'6"). Hannah Roth also finished third in the 3200m (16:45.37).
The 4x100m relay team was second (55.53) while the 4x200m relay team was also second (1:57.09).
The 4x400m relay team won the event (4:24.03) and the 4x800m relay team took second (12:35.01).
The 800m sprint medley relay team was second (2:03.01) and the 4000m distance medley relay team was also second (16:35.86).
In the junior high girls division, OLA was third with one point. The lone point came from Gabby Ferrill who placed fourth in long jump (13'10').
