Patricia Probst, 71, of Hancock County, passed away on June 12, 2019, with her two daughters at her side.
Pat, as she was known by friends and family, was born on February 20, 1948 in Virginia.
In her 20's, she fell in love with Bill Probst in Florida and later married him in 1971. Pat was a devoted wife and a beloved mother of two. She was a good woman and a strong one, full of kindness and integrity. Pat comforted so many people over the years by listening to them, offering sound advice, or doing something helpful for them that needed to be done. She was a small woman who made a large impact. Pat was also hard-working as well keeping a full-time job, even while later going back to school to pursue a degree in English Literature. Pat doggedly pursued her education until the untimely illness and death of her husband and then her mother shortly thereafter.
Pat had a wide variety of careers ranging from supervisor of Modular Engineering in the early 80's to her retirement as a supervisor of security at Beau Rivage casino, where she had the chance to meet concert headliners such as Sinbad the comedian.
Pat loved watching British shows such as Midsummer Murders, reading Anne Perry mysteries, playing Sudoku and logic puzzles and playing online computer games. She also enjoyed hanging out with her outdoor circle of friends at Notre Dame.
She is survived by her two daughters, Amy Cabrera and Melody Probst, her brother, James Short, and his daughters, Susannah Yuhasz and Karri Lutsock and his stepson, Clinton Bain. Pat is also survived by her first cousins, Sammy Fields and Shelia Hammonds. Pat was a beautiful and rare soul and was an amazing mother, sister, cousin, aunt, and friend. She is greatly missed and mourned by all that knew and loved her.
