Caroline Kruebbe Battalora

Caroline Kruebbe Battalora passed from this life into the next after a brief illness on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at the age of 90. She was born October 12, 1928 in New Orleans, Louisiana, the daughter of George Francis and Leona Miller Kruebbe. Caroline graduated from Eleanor McMain High School in 1946. Shortly after, she married her husband, Harold Joseph Battalora, Sr., and stayed home to care for each of their six children. Harold and Caroline moved their family to the Mississippi Coast in 1962, and lived there until their deaths.

Caroline is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years. Together, they built an incredible legacy that now includes nearly 100 family members. Surviving children (and their spouses) are Cynthia (Gayle) Owens of Springfield, Missouri; Dayle (Larry) Gagnon of Pass Christian, Mississippi; Harold (Kathy) Battalora, Jr. of Katy, Texas; Cecilia Stahl of Pass Christian, Mississippi; Michael (Wendy) Battalora, of Landenberg, Pennsylvania; and Ellie (Scott) Williams of Little Rock, Arkansas. Twenty-nine grandchildren, their spouses, 44 great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren also survive her. Caroline was the last remaining of the siblings, preceded in death by her brothers, George Kruebbe, Jr. and Kenneth Kruebbe; and her sister, Leona Kruebbe Hilbert.

Caroline was active in her community and church until health recently prevented her. She was a devoted homemaker who loved cooking and sewing. She also enjoyed cultivating the gardens in her yard and found great pleasure in watching the birds and butterflies they attracted. She was a long-time member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Bay St. Louis, and recently, of Holy Family Catholic Church in Pass Christian.

Her visitation will be on Saturday, June 8, 2019, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church, 228 South Beach Blvd., Bay St. Louis, with the funeral mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church’s St. Vincent DePaul Society fund, or to the church of your choice.

Edmond Fahey Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis, MS is in charge of the arrangements.

My Aunt Caroline was always loving and kind to me. She accepted and loved me for who I am. I am proud to have been considered a part of her family and will always look upon my memories of her with a smile on my face and warmth in my heart. I love you.
