First responders stage at Logtown to begin search and recovery efforts after a 14-year-old boy from Slidell disappeared in the East Pearl River.

A missing 14-year-old’s body was discovered in the East Pearl River late Sunday night near I-10 at the Louisiana-Mississippi state line.

The St. Tammany Parish Coroner's Office has identified the victim as Michael Bright of Slidell.

Authorities say Bright was boating with family earlier in the day when the group decided to tie their boat up under the interstate and take a swim.

Shortly before 5 p.m., after swimming, the family returned to the boat but noticed Michael was missing.

Hancock County emergency officials -- along with dive teams and the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources -- assisted St. Tammany Parish authorities in a search for the young man.

Emergency crews set up at the Logtown boating launch in Pearlington where family and friends stood by holding on to hope.

Around midnight, the Bright’s body was recovered near I-10 where he had last been seen.

The St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office will determine the teen’s official cause of death..
