Bay St. Louis police on Friday arrested a local man and was seeking another for allegedly stealing street signs.

"On June 14, at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Bay St. Louis Police Department arrested Michael Tracy Ratchford Jr., 51, of Bay St. Louis and charged him with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon," Chief Gary Ponthieux, Jr., said in a press release. "Ratchford was also charged with one count of petit larceny and has an extradition hold for an out of state warrant.

The Bay St. Louis Police Department is also seeking the arrest of Timothy Stacey who is currently wanted for one count of petit larceny.

On June 12, the Bay St. Louis Police Department received a call that two suspects had stolen a stop sign located at the intersection of Dunbar Avenue and Esplanade Avenue. Investigation lead to the suspects being identified as Ratchford and Stacey. Arrest warrants were later obtained for Michael Ratchford and Timothy Stacey.

On June 13, 2019, at approximately 3:17 p.m., a search warrant was executed on the 500 block of Esplanade Avenue. As a result of the search, Detectives seized eleven (11) street signs stolen from the City of Bay St. Louis and a firearm. Ratchford was taken into custody at the residence without. Ratchford was also listed as a fugitive from justice from the state of Missouri for probation violation.

Ratchord was transported to the Hancock County Jail with a $1000.00 bond and an extradition hold without bond.

On June 14, 2019, Ratchford was also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
