The Hancock County Library System Board of Trustees on Wednesday announced the resignation of HCLS Executive Director Jennifer Baxter.

Baxter served as the library system's executive director since February of 2018.

In a release from the HCLS board, the board announced that Baxter has accepted a position with the Hancock County Port and Harbor Commission.

"The board and library staff thank Jennifer for her leadership this past year and we are glad she is staying in Hancock County," the board said in a release. "We look forward to working with her in future community endeavors."

The board also announced that Amber Stephenson has accepted the interim director position.

"Amber has six years of library experience and her Bachelor and Master degrees in Library Science," the release states. "Please stop in and meet Amber if you do not know her."

The board also stated that it plans to "wait a bit" before beginning a search for a new director.
