Hancock Community Development Foundation Chairman Angie Kothman, Vice Chairman John Wiebmer and Executive Director Tish Williams present a check to Hancock County Supervisor Scotty Adam and the Bay St. Louis City Council on June 18.  This donation was made anonymously to support continued improvements for 7th Street Park.

The city of Bay St. Louis on Tuesday accepted a $23,010 check from an anonymous donor to fund improvements for the 7th Street Park.

The donation was made through the Hancock County Community Development Foundation, which operates under the umbrella of the Hancock County Chamber of Commerce.

The city and the Hancock County Board of Supervisors worked together to secure the funds to upgrade the park, which is located in the Bay's Ward 4.

City officials said the entire playground will be ADA compliant, including the seating area and swings.

“The City of Bay St. Louis is extremely grateful for the cooperation and generous outpouring of support for this project,” Bay St. Louis Mayor Mike Favre said in a press release. “City leaders look forward to the revitalization of other parks and public properties throughout the city.”

Councilman Larry Smith sought private funding through the Hancock County Community Development Foundation to complete the build out of the park, officials said.
