SPECIAL ELECTION NOTICE
ORDER FOR AN ELECTION
Order No. 2020-001
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED THAT: Pursuant to Mississippi Code Annotated Section
23-15-854, on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, a Special Municipal Election will be held in the City of Diamondhead, Hancock County,
Mississippi, for the purpose of electing a City Councilmember to fill the Ward 4 vacancy
resulting from the resignation of one of the duly elected and acting members of the City Council of the City of Diamondhead,
Mississippi.
The nonpartisan Special Election will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at the
Diamondhead Community Center located at 5300 Diamondhead Circle, Diamondhead. The last day for interested candidates to
qualify is February 11, 2020 by 5:00 p.m. Candidate information packets are available at City Hall Monday - Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Those
interested must have prior to the election been a resident of the City of Diamondhead for two (2) years and resident of Ward 4 for thirty (30) days.
If no candidate of Ward 4 in said election
receives a majority of the votes cast therein, the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes shall have their names placed on the ballot for a run-off election to be held three (3) weeks, thereafter.
So, ORDERED AND DIRECTED by the
Mayor and City Council of the City of
Diamondhead, Mississippi on this the 21st day of January, 2020.
VOTER REGISTRATION
Eligible voters for the Special Election are limited to those registered in Ward 4.
Citizens have until noon Saturday, February 1, 2020 to register to vote in the Special
Election. If you are not yet registered, you may do so by visiting the Hancock County Circuit Clerk's Office, 152 Main Street, Bay St. Louis or visiting their website
hancockcounty.ms.gov/Pages/Circuit.aspx. You may also register to vote at
Diamondhead City Hall, 5000 Diamondhead Circle, Diamondhead between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. City Hall will be open from 8:00 a.m. to noon Saturday, January 25, 2020 and Saturday, February 1, 2020 to accept voter registration applications.
