All area teams score big wins; Pass High’s Hawkins & Hawks’ Elchos earn top honors
One has to go back a few years to the last time that all four area teams won on the same night on the gridiron.

Hawks cage Bearcats 23-13
What started as a shootout ended in a war of attrition with the Hancock Hawks holding on to a hard-fought 23-13 victory over the Long Beach Bearcats Friday evening at Brett Favre Field.
"It was a tough and gutty game," Hawks Head Coach David King said. "We did what we had to do for the win. We played a lot of different guys and they came up big."

Bay High bounces North Pike 14-7
The Bay High Tigers (1-1) rebounded from their opening week loss to tally a 14-7 victory on the road against North Pike who was ranked #2 in Class 4A.
The Tigers received all their scoring in the first half and held North Pike scoreless in the second half. Brennan Dunklin broke free for a 41-yard touchdown in the second quarter. That tally was followed by Stuart Foote's 50-yard interception return that proved to be the difference in the game.

Rock-a-chaws run by Mendenhall Tigers 28-13
The St. Stanislaus Rock-a-chaws (1-1) rebounded from their opening week loss to double-up on the visiting Mendenhall Tigers 28-13 'between the walls' for their first win of 2010.
SSC took the opening kickoff but were unable to generate any offense and ended up punting away. The Tigers took over deep at their own eight yard line.
