An acclaimed talent and modeling agent is moving her business to Waveland, adding to the growing list of movie industry companies to relocate to Hancock County in the past few months.
Leesa Robinson, Inc. announced this week that it will be moving its corporate offices from Houston to Waveland in the coming weeks.
Robinson has trained and managed more than 600 actors, actresses and models in her career.
Robinson currently has four companies in several different states.
Her new Mississippi company will be named "Bay Productions." She said one of the reasons she chose Waveland because of incentives the state of Mississippi is offering to movie industry companies.
"Waveland and Bay St. Louis are beautiful," Robinson said. "With the incentives the state has given, it is a great opportunity to create jobs and find talent. We are going to be searching for talent across the Mississippi Gulf Coast."
Robinson said her company offers eight-week courses for aspiring models and actors/actresses. She also manages clients, helping them obtain roles and work in the industry.
Her office will be located at the new Waveland Studio, owned by production-veteran Jack Prince.
Prince recently leased a 25,000-square-foot facility behind Waveland Pharmacy.
"I think Leesa's company will be a tremendous asset to the community," Prince said Friday. "We have had a tremendous interest in our studio so far. As soon as the doors open, I'm booked."
Prince said he hopes that companies like Robinsons and others will help attract the film industry to South Mississippi.
In addition to Robinson, Prince said he has inked an arts producer and film production/finance company to be tenants at the Waveland Studio.
Robinson said she is ready to get started soon.
"We currently have over 40 scripts and funding and are looking forward to working closely with Jack," Robinson said. "We are excited about finding talent in Hancock County."
