A Picayune man on Monday pled guilty to two counts of sexual battery of a juvenile.
Circuit Court Judge Lisa Dodson accepted the plea of Rodney Mark Krementz, 65, and sentenced him to serve 40 years, with 20 being suspended.
Krementz was arrested in July, 2013 after allegations arose that he had molested an 11-year-old child at her home in north Hancock County.
"Crimes against children continue to be a priority in this jurisdiction and the swift and thorough investigation by the Hancock County Sheriff's Office is a testament to this commitment."
At the plea hearing Monday, Krementz apologized.
"I am sorry," he said. "I take full responsibility and I have no excuse."
Because he was convicted as a sex offender, Krementz will have to serve his sentence day-for-day and he will not be eligible for release until 2033.
