Artist of the Week Jody Brierty.
In order to better promote the arts, the Sea Coast Echo and The Arts, Hancock County, have partnered to offer our readers the Artist of the Week. We invite you to “vote” for your favorite artist each week by liking them on the Echo’s Facebook page. The artist with the most “likes” from Saturday-to-Saturday will then be our Artist of the Month, with a full feature story and multiple photos of his/her work. For more, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org, or call us at 228-467-5474.
Our first Artist of the Week is Jody Brierty. Mrs. Brierty is a fifth-generation native of New Orleans’ French Quarter, but she and her husband, a sought-after physician, have lived in several cities across the U.S., including Diamondhead. They returned to the Coast last year. “I’ve been an artist all my life,” she says. Inspired by nature’s beauty, “I see something I like and I take a picture of it, bring it home and paint it.” A student of renowned artist Brian Donnelly, her favorite medium is oil paint. A sample of her work is currently on display at the Mockingbird Café in Bay St. Louis. For more about the artist, call her at 228-222-5302.
