A Lakeshore woman died Wednesday evening after being struck by a vehicle – not far from the place where she had been hit years ago, causing her to lose a leg.
At a little after 10 p.m. Wednesday, Hancock Sheriff's Chief Deputy Don Bass said, "Barbara Sullivan, 55, a resident of Corkerin Lane, Lakeshore, was struck by a pickup. She had stepped out from behind a vehicle into the path of another oncoming vehicle, that was traveling the other direction on Lakeshore Road,"
Mrs. Sullivan died instantly from massive internal injuries upon impact," Hancock County Coroner Jim Faulk said.
The driver of the vehicle, whose name was not released, was on the way to work at the Silver Slipper Casino. He was apparently not at fault and was not cited, Bass.
Bass also noted that Sullivan had previously been struck by another vehicle in the same area of Lakeshore Road. The injuries she suffered in that accident caused her to lose a leg.
Deputy Lt. Kyle Malley is in charge of the investigation, Bass said. He was assisted at the scene by officers from the Mississippi Highway.
