The president of the Diamondhead Property Owners Association was arrested Wednesday and charged with simple assault.
Sheriff Ricky Adam said that Elton Marshal Kyger, 66, was charged with simple assault for an incident that allegedly happened at a POA meeting in May.
According to a report from the Diamondhead Police Department, Diamondhead resident Senita Gordon Walker filed a complaint with DPD on May 22.
In the complaint, Walker said that she was attending a POA meeting on May 21 when Kyger "physically attacked" her.
Gordon did not want to sign charges at the time, but she later changed her mind, officials said.
According to a "Red Top" complaint, which is an internal POA complaint against another member, Kyger allegedly "grabbed and shook" Walker after she questioned him about a POA issue.
A warrant for Kyger's arrest was issued last week and he turned himself in at the sheriff's office on Wednesday, officials said.
The charge, simple assault is a misdemeanor. Kyger posted a $500 bond and he was released.
He is scheduled to appear in Diamondhead Municipal Court on July 8.
Kyger is the sitting president of the POA, however, his term will expire in two weeks when the community hold elections for POA officers.
