The Diamondhead City Council on Tuesday voted to uphold its dismissal of City Manager Richard Rose.
The council had initially voted 4-2 on April 23 to dismiss Rose, but under state law, he was entitled to a public hearing if so requested.
Rose had requested the hearing, but city attorney Sean Tindell said Tuesday that Rose did not appear to speak on his own behalf, so the removal was finalized at the conclusion of the hearing.
Rose, a former Gulfport city councilman and D'Iberville city manager, became city manager of Diamondhead in 2012. He had been suspended from the position since the council voted to oust him on April 23.
At that hearing, council members cited issues related to Rose's job performance and actions.
Rose's attorneys had negotiated a hearing and had filed a request for declaratory judgment that he be allowed to call witnesses and present evidence at the hearing.
The motion claimed that the city was "de facto denying his statutorily mandated due process."
