Child, 9, dies in Wolf River tubing accident
May 26, 2014, 19:36
A nine-year old boy was killed Monday, authorities said, during a boating accident on the Wolf River in Pass Christian.
Mississippi Department of Marine Resources Spokeswoman Melissa Scallan said Monday that two siblings were on an inner-tube which was being pulled by a boat driven by their father.
The boat apparently made a turn in a curve and caused the tube to hit a tree, she said.
The victim--a nine-year old boy--was killed by the impact with the tree, Scallan said.
The names of the victim, his sibling, and father are not being released at this time, but Scallan said the family was from New Orleans.
After the accident, the child was taken to the River Landing boat launch near Menge Avenue.
The accident is currently under investigation by DMR, Scallan said.
