Authorities in Kenner have arrested a woman in connection with the murder of Jaren Lockhart, whose torso was discovered on a Bay St. Louis beach in 2012.
Kenner Police Public Information Officer Brian McGregor said Wednesday that Margaret Sanchez, 29, was arrested early Wednesday morning in Metairie on a charge of second degree murder.
Lockhart, a single mother and exotic dancer, was last seen leaving Temptations gentlemen's club with a couple--later identified as Sanchez and Terry Speaks, 41 --on June 5, 2012.
Speaks was arrested a few day later on an outstanding warrant for failure to register as a sex offender. He is still in federal custody.
Sanchez was originally arrested on misdemeanor charges of harboring a fugitive, but she was later released.
On June 7, 2012, her torso washed up on the beach near Bay Oaks Drive and other body parts washed up in Pass Christian a few days later.
Hancock County authorities had investigated the case extensively, but turned it over to Kenner last month.
McGregor said Kenner P.D. will hold a press conference about the arrest at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
