Waveland Police on Monday apprehended two suspects wanted in connection with an alleged carjacking Sunday in Pearl River County.
WPD Police Chief David Allen said Monday that his office received a tip about 4:30 p.m that Jacob McTaggart, 40, was walking down Highway 90 near Wal-Mart.
Officer Mike Prendergast and Lt. Mac Cowand located McTaggart a short time later at the Gates of Coral Bay Apartments.
A second suspect, Gabrielle McTaggart, 25, was located inside the apartment complex.
The Hancock County Sheriff's Office also assisted in the apprehensions.
The McTaggarts are wanted in connection with a car jacking that allegedly took place Sunday in Pearl River County.
The crime began when the McTaggarts allegedly contacted the victim on Facebook asking for assistance with a flat tire, Pearl River Sheriff's Chief Deputy Shane Tucker said Tuesday.
The victim--whose name is not being released at this time--was apparently an acquaintance of the McTaggarts, officials said.
The victim went to Gulfport and then drove them back to his residence in Pearl River County, Tucker said.
The McTaggarts asked for a ride back to Gulfport, but the victim did not want to take them back to the Coast, so he drove them to a truck stop in Pearl River County, where they were supposed to meet another person to take them back to the Coast, Tucker said.
When they arrived at the truck stop, Jacob McTaggart pulled a knife, cut the victim in the abdomen and the McTaggarts took off in the victim's vehicle, a black Mitsubishi, Tucker said.
The victim received medical treatment and is expected to survive his wounds, Tucker said.
He said the McTaggarts will be held at the Hancock County Jail pending extradition to Pearl River County.
