A man responsible for a bank robbery in Diamondhead earlier this month may be responsible for another robbery last week in Illinois, authorities said Tuesday.
If so, it would be the fourth bank the man has allegedly robbed since February.
Hancock County Sheriff's Chief Investigator Glen Grannan said Tuesday that his office recently received a call from officials in Huntley Ill. about a bank robbery last Friday.
The suspect and modus operandi of the robbery closely matched those of the man who robbed the Hancock Bank in Diamondhead a few weeks ago, Grannan said.
The suspect, a man in his late 20s or early 30s is about six feet tall and drove a silver Honda Accord with a stolen Illinois license plate, authorities said.
He is believed to be behind two bank robberies in Indiana and Illinois earlier this year.
In all of the robberies, the man has handed the teller a note requesting money. Nobody has been injured in any of the robberies.
Grannan said he is not sure why the man was on the Gulf Coast when the other three robberies occurred in the midwest.
"He may know someone down here or he may have just been down at the casinos hiding out," Grannan said. 'We just don't know right now."
Grannan said if anyone has any information on the suspect, they can call central dispatch at 228-255-9191 or Crime Stoppers at 1-877-787-5898.
