A Diamondhead woman remained in critical condition Friday after a tragic accident Tuesday at a home on Iolani Court in Diamondhead.
Hancock County Sheriff Ricky Adam said Tuesday that authorities received a report of a woman trapped under a car at the residence about 2:15 p.m. Tuesday.
The woman was identified Friday as Joan Guffy, age 63.
"The lady had gotten back from the store and apparently did not put the vehicle all the way in park," Adam said. "The vehicle rolled back and trapped her underneath the vehicle and between a tree."
The Diamondhead police and fire departments responded to the scene, Adam said.
Diamondhead Police Officer Daryl Hughes had a floor jack in his vehicle and was able to lift it so that Guffy could be freed from underneath. Firefighters then performed CPR.
Sheriffs Investigator Brandon Normand said Friday that Guffy remained in the hospital in critical condition.
