Debris from a train and vehicle crash Friday evening sits next to the tracks near the Second Street crossing in Bay St. Louis
Nobody was seriously injured Friday night when a train collided with a car in Bay St. Louis.
Bay Police Chief Mike De Nardo said Tuesday that his department received a report of an accident involving a train at 11:15 p.m. Friday.
Apparently, De Nardo said, a Toyota Sequoia driven by Alyssa Pagano, 24, had tried to cross the tracks at Toulme Street near the city park when it was struck in the rear door by a train.
Pagano was able to exit the vehicle safely and the train dragged the vehicle for a short distance, De Nardo said.
The accident left a trail of debris for about 100 yards.
The vehicle was towed from the scene and Pagano refused medical treatment, De Nardo said.
The accident caused several intersections to be closed for about three hours.
No citations were issued and the accident remains under investigation, he said.
