Michael Grimm wows the students at East Hancock Elementary.
Students at East Hancock Elementary who gathered for their bimonthly rally to celebrate student success had an incredible surprise – not only were Regional Science Fair participants, district chess tournament qualifiers, third grade multiplication quiz successes, and perfect attendance students recognized, but Hancock County’s own Michael Grimm showed up to congratulate their successes.
Additionally, Grimm was on hand to applaud East Hancock Elementary School’s selection as a USDE 2013 National Blue Ribbon School, one of only four chosen in Mississippi this year. Michael, winner of the 5th season of America’s Got Talent, sang to the students and encouraged them.
EHE principal, Tara Ladner, shared, “I’m overwhelmed that someone with Michael’s busy schedule would take time to encourage and celebrate our students. What a message that sends.” 4th grade students had recently completed their “Bio Bottle” project which required them to decorate a two-liter bottle to look like a famous Mississippian and share his or her biography.
Several students had chosen Michael Grimm as their famous Mississippian and were able to share their projects with him.
Finally, Michael dedicated the song, “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)” to the teachers. Needless to say, both students and teachers were grateful for the gift.
