Bay St. Louis police on Thursday arrested an alleged kidnapper and located the two people who had apparently been abducted.
Bay St. Louis Police Chief Mike De Nardo said Friday that Robert Kelly Hanson, Jr., 33, of Ridgeland, was arrested and charged with simple assault domestic, two counts of kidnapping, three counts of sexual battery, and two counts of possession of stolen property. Although he listed a Ridgeland address, Kelly had previously lived in Hancock County.
Deputy Police Chief Christine De Bouchel said in a press release Friday that Bay police were contacted by the Ridgeland PD to check a local residence for two subjects from their city who may have been brought to Bay St. Louis.
When police arrived, they located the two individuals and Hanson, De Nardo said.
The alleged victims appeared to be safe and Hanson was arrested without incident, De Bouchel said.
Officers Patricia De Nardo and Matthew Hopkins and Sgt. Wes Mayley were the responding officers.
"Detective Don Gray is the lead detective assigned to this case and is being assisted by Det. Lt. Robert O'Neal and Detective Sgt. Gary Hudgens," De Nardo said.
Police have not identified the victims, nor would they say whether the victims were adults or children. Officials at Ridgeland PD did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
De Nardo said BPD will not release any additional information due to the ongoing investigation.
