Bay High honors football team

The administration and coaching staff of Bay High School honored their 2013 football team with an awards ceremony and banquet on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at the American Legion Post 139.
The booster club provided a steak and potato meal for the attendees while the coaching staff recognized members of the team for their contributions and accomplishments this past season.
Head coach Jeff Hopgood and his assistants passed out awards to first-year through fourth-year players.
In addition to those awards, certain players were recognized for their accomplishments throughout the season.
Dusty Breckley, Larnell Lewis, Nick Proulx and Patrick Ponder were all recognized for their selection to the All-Sea Coast Echo team.
Ponder, Austin Wilkinson, Lewis and Breckley were named to the All-Division 8-4A MVP team while Proulx and Cory Tomasich were named to the All-Division team.
The Academic Award is presented to the player who has the highest GPA and ACT score on the team. Ponder was presented this award by virtue of his 4.0 GPA and 29 on the ACT.
The Offensive Lineman Award was presented to Dusty Breckley while Larnell Lewis merited the Most Valuable Offensive Player award.
The Most Valuable Defensive Player award was merited by Proulx.
Gage Ladner was named the recipient of the Most Improved Award while Bennett Favre was presented the Most Dedicated Award.
The Iron Man Award is presented to those players who make every workout at Bay High in the off-season. Colin Byrd, Taylor Kidd, Zack Husack, Jhy Hau and Dylan Corr.
The Joe Shaw “Eye of the Tiger” Award, the highest award presented by Bay High football, was merited by Dusty Breckley.
