Diamondhead's City Council will next week consider providing space to the Hancock County Chamber of Commerce so it will have a presence at city hall, Mayor Tommy Schafer said Friday.
The request for space is on the city council's agenda for Tuesday's meeting.
Schafer said he has had recent discussions with Chamber personnel about having a presence in the city.
"We are not trying to take the Chamber out of Bay St. Louis," Schafer said Friday. "All we are talking about is a space where we could show people that we are part of the Chamber or maybe place a kiosk or brochure table inside city hall."
Tish Williams, executive director of the Hancock Chamber, said Friday that there are no plans to move from the current administrative offices in the former Bay St. Louis City Hall Annex building; rather, the Chamber wants to establish a presence in northern part of the county, allowing it to be in better position to help Diamondhead businesses grow.
Schafer said having a Chamber presence would help the city with economic development. It would also give the Chamber a location in the northern part of the county.
Schafer said he did not have any specific plans and wants to see what the council thinks.
