A homeless Hancock County man was charged with murder Friday in connection with Wednesday's discovery of a body in an abandoned shack in Waveland.
According to the Hancock County Jail online docket, Edward "Nick" Winnicki, 63, has been charged with murder.
Winnicki was arrested on Wednesday evening by Waveland police for disorderly conduct.
Bourgeois, 58, was apparently staying in the shack, located across from Hancock Bank, on Highway 90 for several weeks before he was killed, officials said.
Winnicki was an acquaintance of Bourgeois and the two men were often seen together.
Police have yet to release a cause of death. WPD Chief David Allen has promised that a press release will be issued this afternoon.
