The victim in last night's shooting has died and the alleged shooter, Gary Topham, 55, will be charged with murder later today, Hancock County Chief Deputy Don Bass said Wednesday.
According to Bass, Bruce Necaise, 42, of Kiln, was shot in the leg Tuesday evening by Topham on Deerwod Road.
Necaise's injuries required surgery and he passed away early on Wednesday morning, Bass said.
After the shooting, Topham barricaded himself in a barn and held law enforcement officers at bay for nearly two hours.
He was finally arrested after deputies fired tear gas into the barn.
Topham is expected to have an initial court appearance in Hancock County Juatice Court later today.
