A Hancock County woman was arrested this week for allegedly offering to sell her infant for $5,000, authorities said Thursday.
Hancock County Sheriff's Investigator Brandon Normand said Thursday that Bobbi Stojic, 23, was arrested and charged with offering to sell a child.
According to Normand, Stojic, of Bay St. Louis, had posted ISO (in search of) on Craigslist for baby clothes.
Stojic was contacted by a woman in New Orleans about the baby clothes and the two began communicating, Normand said.
"During the course of their conversation, Stojic apparently offered to sell the child to the woman for $5,000," Normand said.
Stojic's child is about a year old, Normand said.
After the offer to sell the child, the woman from New Orleans notified the sheriff's office, which began an investigation, Normand said.
Stojic was arrested on Tuesday and later posted a $5,000 bond at the Hancock County Jail.
The child was taken into DHS custody.
Assistant District Attorney Chris Daniel said Friday that his office does not have a comment on the case because it has yet to receive a case file.
Daniel said the maximum penalty for the charge is 10 years in jail.
