The body of a woman found dead in Pass Christian on Friday has been identified and police have opened a homicide investigation in the case.
On Friday a decomposed female body was found in a wooded lot on Clarence Drive, officials said.
An autopsy was performed on Saturday and the woman was identified as Regina Camille Riley-Paul, 20, of Long Beach.
Riley-Paul had been reported missing on Oct. 4 and had not been seen or heard from since, officials said.
The Pass Christian Police Department is investigating the case, along with the Long Beach Police Department and the Harrison County Sheriff's Office.
So far, far information about Riley-Paul's death has been released other than officials believe it is a homicide.
She reportedly died of asphyxiation.
"We are working diligently on the case, but there are things we need to confirm before we make anything public," Pass Christian Detective Michael Lally said Monday.
