St. Stanislaus Rocks stop Poplarville Hornets 48-41

The dream continues for St. Stanislaus as they outlasted the Poplarville Hornets 48-41 Friday night.
The Rocks stay undefeated at 8-0 and 3-0 in the division.
It was another wild and crazy game with way too many yellow hankies. In fact, SSC was flagged 25 times.
The Rocks started the game off right with a 26-yard scoring aerial from Tyler Allen to Brennen Bradley with 10:15 left in the first quarter. Patrick McRaney made the score 7-0 with the PAT.
They added to it on their next possession to go up 14-0 with a 24-yard scoring completion from Allen to Chase Rhodes and McRaney's PAT.
Poplarville got on the board with a 27-yard goal to cut the lead to 14-3.
SSC answered with a 10-yard scoring toss from Allen to Rhodes with 9:38 left in the second quarter. McRaney made the score 21-3 with the PAT.
Poplarville scored on a two-yard run with five minutes left in the half to cut the score to 21-10.
Poplarville made the halftime 21-17 on a 65-yard punt return.
Each team started the second half with a turnover.
The Rocks capitalized on the fumble they recovered at the Rock 41.
Allen hit Bradley for a 24-yard score with 8:24 left in the third. McRaney hit the PAT to make the score 27-17.
Poplarville scored from one-yard out with five minutes left in the third to make the score 27-24.
Johnny Longo scored from three yards out with 2:30 left in the third. McRaney's PAT made the score 34-24.
It appeared that Poplarville had returned the kickoff 99 yards for a score but a penalty put the ball on the 25.
Two plays later, Poplarville scored from five yards out to cut the score to 34-31.
Poplarville tied the score at 34-34 on a 31-yard field goal with eight minutes left.
Evan Lundgren returned the ensuing kickoff 94 yards for the score. McRaney's PAT made the score 41-34.
The Hornets answered with a 43-yard run up the gut with six minutes left in the game to tie the game 41-41.
The Rocks answered with a 58-yard completion from Allen to Bradley on a fourth down. The play set up Allen's 22-yard scramble for a score with 3:24 left in the game. McRaney's PAT made rhe final score of 48-41.
The Rock defense stopped the Hornets after a 13-play drive.
SSC head coach Gabe Fertitta stated, "This was an unbelievable performance by these guys. They refuse to quit. They have worked so hatd to get to this point and I cannot be any prouder of their effort. Hats off to Poplarville as they have a phenomenal team and will go very far. Now, we have to get to work on Moss Point."
