A badly decomposed body was found Friday in a wooded lot on Clarence Street.
Property owner Dax Fryer, of Bay St. Louis, said he found the body around noon while he was on his lunch break checking on the property.
After pulling into the lot, Fryer said he noticed a strong smell, saw the body in the grass and called the police.
The body was badly decomposed with bones showing, he said. He could tell it was human by the foot, he said.
Fryer said he did not see any clothing, and the body appeared to be female.
However, chief investigator Michael Lally said due to the condition of the body, he could not officially say if it is a man or woman. The Pass Christian Police Department is investigating the case as a homicide, he said.
An autopsy is planned for Saturday, he said.
