After a rash of burglaries last weekend, the Bay St. Louis Police Department has issued a warning to residents who live near Old Spanish Trail.
Police Chief Mike De Nardo said Tuesday that his department received several reports of burglaries over the weekend.
They occurred at Pecan Park, Citizen Street, and Old Spanish Trail.
De Nardo said the alleged thieves are hitting unlocked vehicles between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m.
"We are looking into the same group of kids and young adults which were suspected in similar burglaries about this time last year," De Nardo said. "We are asking everyone to please lock your vehicles and report any suspicious people who may be walking in the neighborhood late at night."
De Nardo said the suspects are breaking into unlocked vehicles and stealing electronic gear, GPS systems, computers, and other valuables.
De Nardo said BPD will provide extra patrols to the areas in the next few weeks in attempts to catch the burglars.
