The Hancock Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for this year’s Salute to Business and Industry Annual Awards Gala where the Citizen of the Year will be named.
The Gala, set for Thursday Aug. 29, at 5:30 p.m., will be held at the Hollywood Casino in Bay St. Louis.
The event will honor nine Outstanding Citizens, who are Di Fillhart with Starfish Café; Leslie Marie Hatcher Henderson with Lazy Magnolia; Guy Johnson with Coast Electric Power Association; Michael “Mike” Kopke with Hancock County Tourism Development Bureau; Betty L. Maxwell with Coldwell Banker Coast Delta Realty; S. Pat Murphy Jr. with 100 Men Hall; Bobbie Necaise with Friends of McLeod Park; Angelyn Scardino Treutel with SouthGroup Insurance; and Teri Wyly with Balch and Bingham.
Of those nine Outstanding Citizens one will be named Citizen of the Year during the Awards Gala.
Other awards will also be issued during the event, including the Patt Cucullu Tourism Person of the Year, Businesses of the Year for Bay St. Louis, Diamondhead, Waveland, Kiln and Hancock County, Industry of the Year, Industrial Award of Excellence and the Community Award of Excellence.
This year’s Patt Cucullu Tourism Person of the Year is Jimmy Loiacano, which is an award sponsored by the Hancock County Tourism Development Bureau.
Several deserving businesses will also be honored as a Business of the Year at the event.
Those businesses include Froogel’s for the city of Bay St. Louis, Woodland Village Nursing Center for the city of Diamondhead, Kent & Sue’s Quick Stop for Hancock County, Smith Family Chiropractic, PLLC for the Kiln Community and Mombo Graphixs for the city of Waveland.
On the industrial side of business, Mississippi Enterprise for Technology will receive the Industrial Award for Excellence while Selex Galileo, Inc. is this year’s Industry of the Year. Those awards are sponsored by the Hancock County Port and Harbor Commission.
Bay St. Louis Little Theatre was chosen as this year’s recipient of the Community Award of Excellence.
Be sure to attend the event to support the award winners. This year the Chamber hired Take Two Video Pro to produce the video to be shown at the event. Take Two employed a new style in the production of each video, essentially making a short commercial for each business or industry.
Seats are still available and can be reserved by visiting the Hancock Chamber’s website at hancockchamber.org or by calling the Chamber’s office at 228-467-9048.
