A man drowns Thursday evening at the Oak Leaf trailer park on Kiln-Waveland cutoff. Authorities have yet to release the man's name.
One man is dead after he drowned in a lake on Waveland-Kiln Cutoff Road, Waveland Police Detective Eddie Peterson said Thursday.
Peterson said WPD was notified of a possible drowning about 6 p.m. Thursday at the Oak Leaf trailer park on Kiln-Waveland Cutoff Road.
The victim, Robert Trail, 53, apparently lived at the trailer park, Peterson said.
Trail had apparently been working on a car and cutting the grass earlier in the day, Peterson said.
He then took a swim in a pond or lake located behind the trailer park, officials said.
"From what we gathered, he went swimming on a regular basis," Peterson said. "He went into the pond and then disappeared for a few minutes. After five or ten minutes, friends and neighbors noticed him floating in the water."
Peterson said residents of the trailer park jumped into the water and brought Trail ashore.
First responders began CPR; however, Trail was not able to be revived.
Peterson said an autopsy was performed Friday and it was officially ruled an accidental drowning.
