Mayor Chuck Ingraham and the Diamondhead City Council recently approved a resolution declaring this Saturday, May 11, as GOAL Day in the city.
To celebrate the day, GOAL (Graduates Obtain Advanced Learning) will host a golf tournament on Saturday at the Diamondhead Country Club.
Tee-off is scheduled for noon. Registration begins at 11 a.m. The first golfer to hit a hole-in-one during the tournament will win a free car from Henderson Ford.
Cost for the day is $40, which includes 18 holes plus cart rental. The event is a four-person scramble and is open to everyone. You can sponsor a hole for just $100.
Proceeds from the event will help GOAL award college scholarships to Hancock County-area high school students. For more information, call Bamby Crowder at 216-2179 or Marty Wright at 216-6434.
GOAL will also sponsor a “Splash Party” from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, at Barnacle Bill’s in Waveland. Enjoy the water slide and lazy river or challenge your friends in mini-golf for just $20 for the whole day.
Barnacle Bill’s is offering special rates: 10 passes for $90 or 20 passes for $165. There will be a door prize – an IPod Shuffle.
For more, call Barnacle Bill’s at 467-9261 or GOAL at 209-6455.
