With gallery openings, live music, and extended shop hours, the Second Saturday Artwalk in Old Town Bay St. Louis has become a beloved family event over the past two decades. For the May 11th event, merchants, restaurants, and gallery owners have teamed up to make Mom’s Day in the Bay a very special one.
“Your mother probably doesn’t want another bathrobe you ordered from the Internet,” says Jeremy Burke, president of the Old Town Merchants Association. “Spending an afternoon or evening in Old Town with your mom instead will give you both an experience that’s unforgettable.”
Burke points out that in Old Town, kids can treat Mom to a meal in restaurants ranging from fine dining to casual. Afterward (or before), the family can catch a sunset over the water, stroll through galleries and shops, and enjoy several live music acts with no cover charge.
Two businesses are featured each Second Saturday and the May Hot Spots are Depot Duck Wine and Liquors (142 Blaize Ave. in the Depot District) and 200 North Beach Restaurant, facing the waterfront.
While Old Town traditionally bustles all day during the event, the official Second Saturday Artwalk festivities take off from 4-8 p.m. For more, go to: http://www.baystlouisoldtown.com.
