Rocks, Pirates secure post-season spots on diamond

The baseball and softball season completed its last week of regular season play. The St. Stanislaus Rock-a-chaws were the only baseball team at press time to have secured a post-season spot. The area softball teams still had games pressing to determine the final standings in division play.
The Rocks (13-8, 6-3) defeated Forrest County AHS 13-5 in Brooklyn on Tuesday, April 16th to secure a post-season spot. Destin Aime got the win on the mound and struck out seven batters. He helped his own cause at the plate with two hits.
Gulfport defeated Hancock 13-3 in Class 6A action on Tuesday night but no individual game statistics were available.
The Pass Christian Pirates )11-12, 8-4) secured a 1-0 victory over Seminary in nine innings on Thursday, April 18th. Hunter Ladner pitched the final two outs for Pass Christian in the ninth inning and helped himself out with the game-winning single in the bottom half of the frame. The win gives the Pirates the runner-up spot in the Division 8-3A standings and a post-season spot in Class 3A.
In softball action, the Pass Christian Lady Pirates fell to St. Patrick 12-2 while Hancock defeated Gulfport 11-8 on Tuesday. St. Patrick blanked OLA on Thursday evening 16-0.
