100th birthday party for ‘Aunt Rita’ Richardson

Mrs. Oreader Singleton Richardson, Herlihy Street, Waveland, will celebrate her 100th birthday on Thursday, April 4, according to her nephew, Clarence Harris.
Mrs. Robinson moved to the Town of Waveland in 1935, from Biloxi. She is the third of seven children.
She was married her husband, now deceased, Deacon Cardosia Richardson, for more than 50 years.
Though “Aunt Rita” had no children of her own, she has many God-children.
She is one of the founding members of Mt. Chapel Baptist Church at 721 Herlihy St. in Waveland.
At the age of 70, she became known for her oil painting, which she began at the senior citizens center, where the instructor told her she was “a natural.”
Her family and friends will celebrate her birthday with a party, held at Mt. Chapel Baptist Church at, 7 p.m., on Friday, April 5th.
Additionally, a family and friends picnic is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., on Saturday, April 6, at Mrs. Richardson's residence on Herlihy Street, Waveland.
Harris said that the public is invited to Mrs. Richardson's birthday party and picnic.
