The baseball and softball diamonds in the area have been seeing action this past week. The St. Stanislaus Rock-a-chaws opened their division schedule on Tuesday, March 19th at home against the Vancleave Bulldogs. The Rocks (4-5, 1-0) collected a 6-1 win at the Brother Phillip Memorial Athletic Complex.
Destin Aime threw a complete game for the win to move to 2-1 on the season. He allowed just five hits and struck out seven batters.. He also helped his own cause with a double at the plate. Irby Dossett was the Rocks’ leader with multiple hits tallying two hits and an RBI on the night. Others with hits in the game were JJ Artigues, Joe Guillot, Noah Nicaud and Luke Logan.
The Rocks went up 2-0 in the bottom of the first when Cody Logan drew a walk and Artigues drove him in with a fielder’s choice. Guillot got his hit in the first inning and Aime drove Artigues with his double.
In the third inning, Artigues had a leadoff single and scored on Guillot’s RBI fielder’s choice.

SSC head coach Mark Logan commented, “Destin Aime threw a complete game tonight. He pitched himself out of some tight situations like bases loaded or runners on first and second with no outs. We were aggressive at the plate and got some timely hitting which was the difference in the game. This is a big win for a young team. We hit the ball with runners in scoring position and we have to continue to do that each night out.”
The Biloxi Indians shutout the Hancock Hawks in division action on Tuesday night 4-0. There were no game details available.
On the softball diamond, the Pass Christian Lady Pirates (8-5) defeated the Hancock Lady Hawks earlier in the week 2-1. Amber Jacobson connected for a game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning with two outs. She was also the winning pitcher.
On Thursday evening, Vancleave defeated Bay High 10-0 while Biloxi shutout the Lady Hawks 11-0. Both games were in division play.
