The Bay St. Louis Planning and Zoning Commission will host a public hearing on Feb. 26 at 5:30 p.m. to consider applications for special exceptions to zoning ordinances.
Leverna Benigno Dedeaux has submitted an application stating his intention to conduct a retail and wholesale seafood business. The business will have a processing room for crab picking. The property is located at 128 Blaize Avenue.
A 40-foot outside refrigeration container and a boiling area will be placed at the rear of the building along with a dumpster.
By the "Chart of Uses," a retail fish market may be allowed by Special Exception with approval of the city council in a C-2 Neighborhood Commercial District, according to Zoning Administrator Charlene Black's review of the application.
Black also noted that a wholesale business which is identified as a light or small-scale manufacturing operation is not allowed, but may be allowed by Special Exception.
The commission is also scheduled to discuss business sign regulations and the sand beach master plan.
