Kiln man killed in I-10 accident in Gulfport

A Kiln man was killed Thursday when he was struck by a car in Gulfport at the Interstate 10 and Highway 49 exit, authorities said Friday.
According to a press release from the Gulfport Police Department, the accident occurred at 8:28 p.m. Thursday.
GPD officers received a report of an accident involving a pedestrian and when they arrived at the scene, they discovered that Travis Favre, 44, of Kiln had been struck by a 2009 Ford Escape, officials said.
Favre was pronounced dead at the scene, the press release said.
Further investigation revealed that Favre had been attempting to cross the interstate and the driver of the Escape, had tried, but was unable to avoid him to avoid him, police said.
No one has been charged in the accident, which is still under investigation, officials said.
