A Kiln woman has been indicted for murder in the April 7, 2012 shooting death of her boyfriend.
A Hancock County Grand Jury has issued an indictment for Virginia M. HIll, 38, who allegedly killed Dustin Jarrell, 34, at his home at Orchid Street in the Silver Creek subdivision.
In an indictment dated Jan. 22 but made public on Monday, the grand jury reported that there is enough evidence that on April 7, 2012, Hill "did willfully ... murder Dustin Ryan Jarrell" to proceed to a trial.
Jarrell was shot to death early on the same morning that Herman Johnson allegedly shot Louis Matranga and Tony Garrett apparently beat his mother, step-father and girlfriend to death with a hammer in Bay St. Louis before falling to his death from a cell phone tower in Waveland.
According to officers of the Hancock County Sheriff's Department, Hill went to a neighbor's house with an assault rifle at around 3:30 a.m. that morning and asked the neighbor to call 911.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found Jarrell dead in his bed, underneath the covers, according to Sheriff's Chief Investigator Glenn Grannan. Officers from the sheriff's department and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation probed the shooting.
Hill was charged with murder and taken to jail. Hancock Justice Court Judge Jay Lagasse set bond at one million dollars.
The case has not yet been scheduled for trial.
