Waveland police have arrested a Poplarville man who allegedly sexually assaulted an 11-year-old girl last Saturday.
Waveland Police Investigator Eddie Peterson said Thursday that Stanley Eugene Hart, 22, of Poplarville was captured by the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force on Wednesday.
Peterson said the alleged sexual assault was reported to authorities on Jan. 13, the same day it allegedly occurred.
Peterson said the crime apparently occurred in Waveland, but Hart was not immediately located.
With the help of the marshal's service, Hart was tracked to his residence in Pearl River County and arrested without incident on Wednesday, Peterson said.
Hart was brought back to Hancock County, questioned by WPD investigators, and later booked at the Hancock County Jail.
Municipal Judge P.J. Mauffray set Hart's bond at $200,000.
If convicted, Hart faces up to 30 years in jail, officials said.
