An early-morning crash claimed the life of a Kiln man Wednesday and sent two others to the hospital.
Hancock County Coroner Jim Faulk said Wednesday that Evan Forsythe, 22, was killed in the crash.
Forsythe was the driver of a silver Chevy Malibu which was apparently traveling west on Kiln-DeLisle Road at about 1:45 a.m. Wednesday.
The conditions Wednesday morning were poor, with a layer of fog covering the area and wet roads due to intermediate rain showers.
About a half-mile from the Hancock County arena, Forsythe apparently lost control of the vehicle, ran off the roadway and struck a power pole, officials said.
The car was heavily damaged and the pole was snapped in half.
Forsythe was pronounced dead at the scene, Faulk said.
Two passengers in the vehicle, Justin Bailes, 24, and Terri Meyers, 28, both suffered "serious" injuries and were transported to Gulfport Memorial Hospital, officials said.
No update on their conditions was available by press time Friday.
The Hancock County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol assisted the county with accident reconstruction.
