One person was killed and two more were seriously injured Wednesday morning when a car struck a light pole on Kiln-DeLisle Road, Hancock County Coroner Jim Faulk said.
The accident occurred about a half-mile east of the Hancock County area on Kiln DeLisle Road about 1:45 a.m. Wednesday, officials said.
The vehicle apparently left the roadway, snapped a power pole in half, and landed in a ditch.
The driver, a male, who is not being identified at this time, was killed, Faulk said.
Two other passengers, a male and female, were both taken to Gulfport Memorial Hospital.
Faulk said both had "serious" injuries, but he did not have any update on their condition.
Their names are also being withheld at this time until next of kin is contacted, Faulk said.
The Hancock County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash. The Mississippi Highway Patrol was also on scene assisting with accident reconstruction.
The Sea Coast Echo will continue to update this story as more details become available.
