The Hancock County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's help to identify and apprehend a pair of men accused of running an elaborate home repair fraud scheme.
"Two people are apparently going door-to-door selling asphalt," Hancock Investigator Johnny Allison said Tuesday. "They are both wanted out of other states for fraud. They have since hit a victim on the north end of the county for about $21,000. ... They're preying on the elderly.
"One goes by the name Jerry Ray Oaks and has ties to Ind., Ill. and Texas.
“The guy he's running with is Jimmy Young, who is also wanted.”
Oakes is 57 years old, Allison said. Young is 53.
"We're asking the community to help us identify and locate these men," Allison said.
To report a sighting or suspicious activity, please call the Hancock County Sheriff's Office at 228-466-6910 or dispatch at 255-9191.
