The Pearl Pirates on Friday ended the Hancock Hawk's 2017 season with a dominate 41-3 victory.
Pearl (13-0) took control early and never looked back.
The Pirates quarterback Jake Smithhart connected with wide-receiver Johnquarise Patterson for a 54-yard touchdown on the opening drive of the game and running back Tylan Knight scored on a five-yard run as the Pirates took an early 14-0 lead.
Hancock responded with a 66-yard drive, that resulted in a 36-yard field goal by Hawk's kicker and senior Elliot Nolan.
Hawk's running back and senior Marquis Cherry had 25-yards rushing on the drive.
Any momentum the Hawks had gained, however, was nullified on the Pirates next drive when Smithhart connected with senior wide receiver Dylan Kelly on a 50-yard touchdown pass.
Pearl would take the 21-3 lead into the half.
Kelly scored on an 11-yard run and Smithhart added an eight-yard touchdown run.
The Pirates final score came on a loose ball recovery in the endzone, after a punt gone awry.
Hancock finished the 2017 campaign with 10 wins and a playoff victory, only the third time a Hancock team has accomplished both feats.
Cherry led the Hawks with 75 yards rushing.
"This game doesn't take away from any of our accomplishments this year," Hawks Coach Neil Lollar said. "I'm extremely proud of all our players and their hard work. We look forward to getting back to work soon."
