The Sojourners Class of Bay St. Louis' United Methodist Church on Thursday hosted a "Helping Hands Thank You Luncheon" for the Bay St. Louis police and fire Departments.
Sojourners class leader Mary Howard said the group routinely participates in mission projects throughout the year.
One of those projects is Christmas in July for Brenda's House, which houses foster children, she said.
"We purchase school supplies for the children," Howard said. "At Thanksgiving we provide fresh fruit and vegetables for King's Kitchen."
Thursday marked the first time the group hosted Bay St. Louis' first-responders, she said. The group served homemade soups, sandwiches and desserts.
"We're excited about having them here today," Howard said. "We feel like lately they need an uplifting pat on the back. Sometimes they're not told enough how much we appreciate them."
