The Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics last week arrested four people after a raid on a north Hancock County residence.
According to a press release from MBN, agents served a search warrant last week on Flemming Road in northwest Hancock County.
During the raid, agents located 74 units of 30 mg oxycodone tablets and nearly $1,000 in cash, MBN Director John Dowdy said.
Arrested in conjunction with the search warrant were,
Wayne Wadel, 59, of Flemming Road; John Alsobrooks, of One Star Lane in Picayune; Daphne Batac, 42, and Donald Douglas, 38, both of Hillwiew Drive in Poplarville.
"What we often encounter is that a prescription for an opioid is legally obtained, but improperly transferred to someone else," Dowdy said. "The drug is then sold, in the case of oxycodone, for as much as $30 a tablet."
Wadel, Alsobrooks, Batac, and Douglas were all charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. Wadel was previously arrested for possession of oxycodone and possession of illegal firearms. His bond for those charges was revoked.
Dowdy said the Hancock County Sheriff's Office assisted MBN in the six-month investigation.
